Information in the publication is divided into the amount of time allocated to individual subjects, such as literacy learning, mathematics, or physical education and also by country. The report also covers the number of taught days and weeks per year, as well as the number and length of the class periods.

The Eurydice Network provides information on and analyses of European education systems and policies. As from 2013 it consists of 40 national units based in all 36 countries participating in the EU´s Lifelong Learning programme (EU Member States, EFTA countries, Croatia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Turkey). It is co-ordinated and managed by the EU Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency in Brussels, which drafts its studies and provides a range of online resources.
