Commission decides to give the European Heritage Label to nine heritage sites

The European Commission decided on 1 March 2018 to add nine sites celebrating and symbolising European ideals, values, history and integration to the European Heritage Label list. These cities will be celebrated during an award ceremony taking place on the 26 March in Plovdiv, Bulgaria as part of the International conference "Cultural heritage: for a more sustainable Europe"

The 9 sites are:

The European Commission took its decision based on the proposal of the independent selection panel in charge of assessing the applications on the basis of the established criteria.  This brings the number of sites that have received the European Heritage Label over past four years to thirty eight in total. 

Twenty five heritage sites were preselected in 2017 by the 19 participating Member States. In December 2017 an independent panel proposed to select the nine sites that are added on the list on 1 March 2018.
