More than 500 other participants in the poll did not show such scepticism. However, they highlighted out finances as the biggest problem.
"Critics agree that excessive amounts of theory and memorising that does not develop pupils´ thinking enough. They also said the level of Czech elementary schools has decreased and that they do not equip them with enough practical knowledge and skills," EDUin said.
Two thirds of education experts say the goverment does not invest in the quality of education.
Three quarters of teachers said their salaries are too low and almost a half of teachers were critical of preparation at pedagogic faculties.
Both groups of the polled agreed that developing moral values, communication and responsibility towards the surroundings should be elementary schools´ priority.
