The award ceremony for the 2013 EU Prize for Cultural Heritage/Europa Nostra Awards will take place in the evening of 16 June at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, near the Acropolis in Athens. The European Commission supports this Prize through the Culture Programme, whilst Europa Nostra is in charge of organising the selection and the award ceremony.
On this occasion, the winners will be honoured for their achievements. Of the 30 winning projects, seven will be named as Grand Prix Laureates and one of the winners will receive the Public Choice Award following an on-line poll.
The event will be co-hosted by Androulla Vassiliou, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, and Plácido Domingo, the world-renowned opera singer and Europa Nostra President. Karolos Papoulias, President of Greece, has given his patronage to the event and is also expected to attend.
