The fair, now in its 14th year, brings together around 400 prospective students and representatives of universities and the EU institutions. The Commissioner made a brief address in the importance of equipping young people with high quality and relevant skills, as well as the need for further modernisation in higher education institutions.
The Commission´s proposed new programme for education, training, youth and sport, ´Erasmus for All ´, is currently under discussion by the European Parliament and the Council. The Commission hopes to significantly increase the number of young people receiving EU grants to study, train or volunteer abroad.
