The Education, Youth, Culture and Sports Council will take place on Friday morning, starting at 10.00, under the chairmanship of the Irish minister for Education and Skills, Ruairí Quinn TD , and will be devoted to education items only.
The Council is due to adopt conclusions on investing in education and training, which are a response to the Commission communication "Rethinking Education" (and to the education aspects of the 2013 Annual Growth Survey.
Education and skills for jobs and growth
In the context of the European Semester and in particular to enable Education ministers to respond to the recommendations in the 2013 Annual Growth Survey (AGS), ministers will be invited to indicate, in public debate, what immediate and practical action their countries are taking in the field of education and training in order to improve skill levels and employability, considering also the urgent need to reduce youth unemployment.
