The European Regional Meeting brings together Government, Employer and Worker representatives

Redacción

Organized in collaboration with the Government of the Kingdom of Norway, the European Regional Meeting provides an opportunity for tripartite representatives of the 51 countries of the European and Central Asian Region to share their experiences and to discuss the response to the economic and jobs crisis in the region, looking at levels of social protection, social dialogue and the application of labour law.

The Report of the ILO´s Director-General to the 9th European Regional Meeting analyses the major challenges facing the crisis-hit region of Europe and Central Asia. It considers key elements of a balanced growth strategy for this region which has the potential to promote strong, sustainable and job-centred recovery.

The Report argues that social dialogue is crucial in formulating this ambitious yet realistic strategy, in shaping appropriate policies and in ensuring the effective implementation of these policies.
